On July 14th, 1678, M. de La Salle departed from France on a vessel named Saint-Honore. The shipping vessel was two hundred tons with M. de Tonty, a pilot, sailors, carpenters, blacksmiths, and several others, to the number of about thirty persons in all, with anchors and rigging for the vessels which La Salle intends to build, and with the necessary arms and merchandise. During their travel, they encountered a storm that lasted five days.
