On August 20th, 1678, they sighted the Island of Newfoundland. On their adventure in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on August 27th, 1678, where they saw no wheat growing because of the severe cold. However, cod fishing was the chief industry. With religious orders, the French and the Indians were engaging.
