Women Wearing Dresses Making Lace on Pillow
Saint Louis City, Missouri
Studio portrait of two women wearing (stroud cloth?) dresses, one with elaborate ribbonwork on her sleeves, with beaded panels at the neckline, and multiple necklaces. Both wear beaded moccasins; woman on L wears embroidered or beaded leggings and woven sash and appears to have facepainting. Woman on R is seated, making lace on pillow positioned on chair, with other examples of lacework behind her. Probably participants at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair: The Louisiana Purchase Exposition.
