Results of the Indian Council at Detroit

The Indian Council in Detroit has created a treaty which outlines the following points: there are three locations for the Chippewa and Ottawa in the Western part of the Lower Peninsula, the tribes in Sault Ste. Marie selected three locations, 80 acres of land will be given to heads of households and 40 acres to single adults along with $8,000 provided annually for schools, the Saginaw Indians have two locations, and the Pottawatomies will be provided for despite being unable to be officially recognized in the treaty.
