To the best of our knowledge, this poem has not been published. While this poem is not written in Jane Johnston Schoolcraft's handwriting, it is possible that it is a copy of her poem written by someone else (possibly Henry Schoolcraft). Many writings previously attributed to Henry Schoolcraft were later found to be written by Jane Schoolcraft. Jane would also assist her husband with transcriptions and hand written copies so there are also some of Henry's writings in her penmanship. The style and content of this poem however, is in line with other poems written by Jane. Therefore, it is likely that his poem is one of Jane Johnston Schoolcraft's.
